My birthday cake for this year. Red Velvet cake, that I added cherry flavor to, thus making it a chocolate covered cherry flavored cake. White chocolate frosting, the cherry blossoms are made of gum paste, individually put together by hand, hand painted with red food dye, and dusted with pink and white pearl dust (sugar). The tree trunks are chocolate piping ofcourse. All in all it was a cool cake, but I can see it needs improvement. Thank goodness my birthday is only once a year.
It looks really pretty! I think for the next birthday cake I make (maybe the mother in law's this August) I might try my hand at some cherry blossoms! You've inspired me! I enjoy making cakes, it's fun!
It was totally fun, though not as nice as what I envisioned. Time and practice is not on my side as this was my first time using these products. But I think it turned out well. I had no directions or walk thru, so I came up with the basic components of a cherry blossom and added them together. I'd love to see your cake when it's done if you chose to make a bad ass cherry cake *plays air guitar*. Take care, thanks for the comment.

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.
